Groups

Safety

Group therapy provides a safe place for children and adolescents to talk about “everything.”

Let’s face it: teens feel there’s just about nothing they can discuss with their parents, and that feeling robs them of a needed adult perspective.

Group offers them a safe place to talk about their concerns and receive feedback from the adult therapist.

Accountability

At the same time, peer groups are very effective at holding their members accountable when they detect that someone is being less than honest with other members or themselves. They’ll call each other out when members are on the verge of making a bad decision.

Solidarity

The goal of group therapy is like individual therapy – just in a different environment. You have the support of not only your therapist, but also your peers.

You know you are NOT alone in the way you feel.

Family

Group therapy for teens and children provides support from me, from peers, and also from parents.

Parental input is key to successful adolescent therapy and always welcome.
